An even simpler way to get round this is to have the links as text links somwhere else on the page, ie at the bottom. this allows speach readers to and text only browsers the best changce to working. All you then need to do is have one alt tag for the image map saying somthing like "Menu: The text links are at the bottom of this page"
Surely that's not simpler - the alt tag is precisely for this purpose, if images aren't working they appear as text links.nidave wrote:An even simpler way to get round this is to have the links as text links somwhere else on the page, ie at the bottom. this allows speach readers to and text only browsers the best changce to working. Not all borewsers handle the individual alt tags - they see it as just one image with one alt tag. so you have an imagemap with 7 items all the alt tag shows is one.cdd wrote:Surely that's not simpler - the alt tag is precisely for this purpose, if images aren't working they appear as text links.nidave wrote:An even simpler way to get round this is to have the links as text links somwhere else on the page, ie at the bottom. this allows speach readers to and text only browsers the best changce to working.
