Re the matter at hand, have you considered creating a new Windows profile, copying your documents into it, and deleting your ifrst one? This would definitely solve the problem but at a cost of about 15 minutes effort.
Note:
> You will lose AutoComplete entries on IE unless you back them up
> Start menu items that are in your profile but not in the /All Users/ directory will disappear; you will need to replace the shortcuts
> Saved MSN Passport information will vanish - but 5 seconds of typing will resolve that!
> Other profile specific details, such as Microsoft Outlook personal data including email settings, will vanish, and require you to re-enter them (yes, it's a bore!). I can't remember whether e-mails disappear too but it would be worth backing them up just in case.
While this will certainly resolve the problem you'll want to save it until your sure there's no other way to eradicate it.
How to delete files that don't exist?
If anyone can get FireFox to work with Egg online banking, I'm willing to give it a go.
From Egg, I am able to check my bank accounts and online credit card accounts. Last time I tried, Egg didn't support Firefox

I don't use Egg so I'm afraid I can't vouch for them.fusionlad wrote:If anyone can get FireFox to work with Egg online banking, I'm willing to give it a go.

However, bear in mind two things:
1) If the last time you tried Firefox was about a year ago then it has come into increasing prominence in the past year; it's a fair bet that Egg will have chaned their system to allow other browsers. Firefox now has an 11% share of the UK browsing market, so they'd be silly not to nowadays.
2) If not, you can download an extension called IE Tab, which allows you to seamlessly use the IE rendering engine within the firefox frame automatically for sites which require it.
Try this and see if it'll delete it:

(nicked from another forum)
Open a Command Prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories and you should see this:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\>
After the > type:
cd favorites and hit Enter
You should see this:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Favorites>
Now type:
dir /p and hit enter
You should see a list of all bookmarks. Take note of the name that is shown for MyRealPics and keep hitting enter until you see C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Favorites> again.
Next type:
del myrealpics*.* (if myrealpics is the name shown, if not type what you can see with *.* after it).
Close your Command Prompt and reboot.
Open up the start menu, right click on the said item you wish to get rid of, and select delete. Always works for me.Secondly, how can I get rid of useless programs on the Start menu that have stuck around after uninstallation? I can't see a way of doing it via the Taskbar and Start Menu properties; half of them don't appear when I open up the Start Menu\Programs folder itself.
But DAS said deleting with the command prompt gave the same error. This is just using the DEL (delete) command.Chris wrote:Try this and see if it'll delete it:

aye - and one of the reason i'm staying with ff is the new ie interface which comes with ie7.cdd wrote: I think Dr Lobster* is our resident prime example of a convert. I recall him initially saying how he didn't find IE particularly bad but once he tried it he's never looked back.
i installed the beta version at work and whilst there did seem to be improvements with the rendering surface, the whole menu bar under the toolbar is clumsy and unnatrual to use.
i've tried dragging the various bits around but it sill looks horrible, but more importantly it's horrible to use, especially the tool menu button.
what i like most about ff is all the free extensions. adblock is just great and mouse gestures make browsing so much more enjoyable. i find myself using mouse genstures in windows explorer and when i'm not thinking. it's a very clever way of doing things. i'm suprised they've not really caught on.

And it ruddy bloody worked! Well done Chris, thanks a lot. That's been there for two years.
Right clicking on the thing didn't work, but did make the answer pop up in my head: they are listed under All Users rather than my own profile. So well done Chris again.
Now I'm gonna figure out what's going on with the Recycle Bin.

I must have misinterpreted what was written -- I don't understand what was different.Sput wrote:Don't you ever tire of being wrong?cdd wrote:But DAS said deleting with the command prompt gave the same error. This is just using the DEL (delete) command.
