What is your stance on the cartoons, and the following protests.

Just to clarify, the protests were the violent ones, stating behead those who insult Islam.

it is quite clear that the publication of these cartoons is being used as an excuse for violence by some of the islamic community and i fail to see how anybody can justify such behavour for what is essentially a drawing. it's nonsense.

however, if you accept that those cartoons were a manifestation of free speech and that the protests were not then your position is untenable and you cannot truely be a supporter of free speech, in fact, you are no better than those muslim protesters in the first place.

freedom of speech cuts both ways.

Without wishing to be self-promoting, for those who haven't seen them (which seems to be a surprisingly high proportion of those passing judgement around and about), the full set of cartoons is here.

Edit - It amuses me that I'm claiming not to be self-promoting right above this sig...

Is it freedom of speech to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater?

We spell it "theatre" over here, Jaron.

"Theater" is the Florida spelling.
