Metropol247 - the place for discussion on TV programmes...?

I'm not suggesting we turn into some poor man's Digital Spy (last place I'd want this place to turn out like), but should MP247 be the place to discuss TV and radio programs?

I say yes - for good and obvious reasons, TV Forum sticks to TV presentation. More often than not, threads discussing TV programmes themselves are locked by ItsRobot or Charlie "Terminator" Wells.

What do you say, fellow 'pollers?

People getting a bit worked up - who is Asa anyway and does he not bother anymore?

Although I confess to being tickled by the statement that "people are getting worked up", as it seems to be one person doing all the moaning.

I think some telly programmes could be discussed here without treading on Asa's toes too much.

What a strange forum.

When you go back to the forum to which that post belongs, there seems to be a near-three-year gap between one post and the next.

I think that adding a TV-programme discussion element to MP247 would be a perfect compliment. IIRC, that used to happen from time-to-time in the old Lounge anyway.

I was chatting tonight with Sput on MSN and we were debating TVF now compared to 2002 and 2003. If at some point memberships could have been frozen permanently, perhaps around March or April 2003, after the last big forum crash, it would be as it was. Oh, happy days.

The downfall of TVF ultimately came though with Asa losing interest in TV presentation.

i think we ought to have a tv forum on metropol (programmes and presentation). it wouldn't be treading on asa's toes really because he seems to thrive amongst the 15 year old imbeciles, bbc world recluses and mentally challenged. whilst the members with half a brain could post on a tv forum over here. et voila, everyone's happy.

However, Metropol would need a major revamp to bring it in line with other mainstream fora such as DS and MUK (not TVF, as it's gone to the dogs).

I think if Martin went about it the right way, we could create a forum which would easily give DS a run for its censorship-happy money.

I think that this would be a positive step forward.

I'd also go as far as suggesting that it's time for Metropol to cut the apron strings totally, TVF now is a mere shadow of its former self compared to how it was in late 2001/early 2002.

I'd say it was well on its way to the dogs in 2003 if I'm honest. The cliques that undeniably formed during the early part of that year caused several of the problems in my opinion, because it alienated others.

I'd personally suggest some sort of revamp at TVF. But a major, major revamp... possibly even take the very bold step Media UK took in 2003 by enforcing a realnames policy. A lot of the idiots from Media UK moved over to DigitalSpy which didn't help much. I imagine what helped less is that TVF picked up many from the TV side of things.

I think this place has just been better-controlled though. We don't have their problems, and for the most part, we now have very intelligent discussion here. The discussion I find too is very different to that of the original Lounge.
