I have a Cockatiel who is about 16 months old. The bird has been whistling for about 6 or 7 months. She can only whistle a 'wolf whistle'. She whistles it in many different styles both low and high with alot of feeling both loud and soft. She only does this when she wants to call me, or when I'm in another room. When she starts to whistle she has 4 or 5 loud blasts and then goes into the whistle. She does it about 10 times or more until I come into the room or pay atention to her and then she stops.
I can't get her to do it on command or when i'm in the room.
I have been whistling the Krypton Factor tune about 3 to 4 times a day for about 6 months. Every time I whistle the tune she twitches her
head and wings. When she twitches she whistles one note. like a chirp. Always the same whistle. I have just started to try to teach her to say
"hello" , while whistling the Krypton Factor tune.
What can I do to coax her to sing for me? Is she stuborn I know she can do it because she has a beautiful voice when she goes into her whistle ( when we are out of the room ) Are there other techniques I can try?
