Jay, just because you live with people who drink you don't have to drink yourself!

Also with the drugs thing, it's not really an issue, when you're looking at houses you can usually tell the people you want to avoid!

Totally - I looked at a house once and the people who were there were rolling joints and stuff as they showed me around - kind of put me off sharing I guess!

...and I do like a drink as much as the next person, I just don't like being totally off my head all week, especially with work!

But you just made the same type of sweeping generalisation about the membership here!

To the earlier points - if the statistics are to be beleived, a good proportion of flats with twenty-somethings will contain at least one who partakes in the odd spliff (etc.), but you'll get a straight answer if you ask the question in a polite way.

Those who do that type of thing certainly would prefer not to have someone in their midst who resented it - so it saves everyone a bit of time if you mention in when making an appointment to view.

Well there's no point in giving up after the 1st go. Try somewhere else, they possibly don't just eat lentils and not wear any shoes!

Buy somewhere. A mortgage is often cheaper than renting and at least you have something to show for it. And buy a bike. It keeps you fit and helps you avoid the tubes.

Sorry if this is a stupid question - I'm a bit out of touch. Is that for all 4 of you. Here in Southampton, which I would have expected to be cheaper than many places in London, there are five of us who pay £260 each a month. That is quite similar to many of our friends as well so it isn't a case of us being massively ripped off for the area. Maybe Southampton is just more expensive than I thought?!
