Vive la France!

I've just got back from a three-day city break with the woman and I loved every minute of it.

Architecturally, the city is absolutely beautiful and so big. It's not as varied as London and seems somewhat stuck in the past, but I am bowled over by the appearance of the place.

I found the people friendly and helpful - that said, my girly speaks French fluently and I did make an effort to dredge up my French from pre-GCSE times.

I loved the cafe culture - very laidback and relaxed. In truth, I still much prefer the British pub culture, but I could appreciate the benefits of the different system.

I have always been a Francophile - made more so by their anti-war stance in 2003 - but I definitely love the country now.

What are your thoughts on France and the French?

I loathe France. I'm not sure what it is, but wherever you go there seems to be no purpose. Perhaps that's why the French can be so annoying, because they're feeling a little defensive about their lack of raison d'etre, as they say (I think?).

I'm sorry to divert, but reading the bit about the lemonade, I simply HAD to do a Google.

I particularly liked the tab on the main page that says 'Pschitt Yourself'

Classy, dont you think?!

Jeezus living next door to France ( specifically Calais) can be hellish. It also has it's advantages - booze cruises and a dance to france on the ferries can be quite good.
Paris is a beautiful city it also has it's dark side like any other major city in the world.
I quite like the culture and lifestyle of France. The politics of the country is another thing entirely. When in France i find the French to be friendly and welcoming but when they visit Britain i find them to be incredibly arrogant.

Pardon me for not being a mind reader, but to which city are you referring?

Well, let me bore you with an explanation Andy.

Firstly.. Do you not watch Celebrity Big Brother?

Secondly.. I don't normally watch it. A housemate is a member of the band The Ordinary Boys. I have been a fan of theirs for about the past year. It was only due to a few texts on the first night of CBB informing me he was in the house that i tuned in.
Needless to say i am excited at seeing them in February in London because they have spent most of their time on the road in Japan.
