Found this bit interesting..

The new leap second will be inserted at the end of the final minute of 2005, giving the familiar "six pip" BBC radio time signal an extra pip before the long pip marking the hour.

So they've added an extra pip to their time signal, but what BBC outlet is actually going to broadcast it? Admittedly I've never checked, but surely they all use the chimes of big ben at new year? As much of a British institution that the pips are, they're hardly dramatic enough to signal a new year, even on Radio 4.
