Wireless mini computer microphone

Hi All,

Does anyone know a good place to purchase one of those wireless "mini" microphones, i.e. the ones that clip onto your shirt, etc., that would work directly with a computer within a relatively large range? If necessary it could come with a wired pack, storeable in a trouser pocket or something - but the only "actual" bit being the small microphone. If anyone has any luck searcing out somewhere only where this would be purchaseable I'd be extremely grateful. I had a quick search but all the things I found seemed to be aimed at a professional market.

That seem ideal, thanks. I assume some kind of USB radio tuner would successfully be able to pick that up!

You could *even* plug the base station into the microphone socket!

Depends on the range of the device.

The kit shown comes with a transmitting bodypack and a receiving base unit. You will proably need a 6.3mm jack to mini-jack lead to connect to your PC. Its usually an unbalanced line-out on the back of the receiver.

These kits are good value now. Most theatre/studio radiomics now operate in the UHF spectrum as VHF ones like this can suffer from things like "passing taxi" syndrome.

For short range video work you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you always use fresh alkaline batteries each time you need to use it. Don't piss about with rechargable ones - they just won't cut it.

EDIT: Sorry sput, you got there first.
