That's certainly the way I will deal with such things when I am offered the position of moderator.Square Eyes wrote:Isn't it the usual form to issue a nannying kind of warning in an attempt to bring the topic back prior to whipping out the padlock ?

And isn't it more confusing for members when one mod is involved in the off topic discussion, and another comes along and locks the thread ?

You mean all that anagram of carp about a weather breakdown, right in the middle of a discussion about Tom Baker doing continuity?Square Eyes wrote:And isn't it more confusing for members when one mod is involved in the off topic discussion, and another comes along and locks the thread ?

I notice the addition of a poll on the home page, how long before the next bout of downtime ?

Charlie, when locking the thread, thanked those who has used the RTP system - prompting him to present another padlock.Square Eyes wrote:And isn't it more confusing for members when one mod is involved in the off topic discussion, and another comes along and locks the thread ?
What were people using RTP to report?
Was it criticism of dyslexia in general? As far as I can make out, the message in the thread was that it isn't important if a person is dyslexic or not, but whether or not the essence of their post is RUBBISH.
Good fucking grief!
Some days one shouldn't listen to the masses Charlie, because they can be idiots.
Although you really have to not be an idiot to get that.
Not one to be a trouble maker - but I've just taken a look at the RTP queue, which contains two complaints about the thread - both aimed at the "dyslexic" idiot.Gavin Scott wrote:Charlie, when locking the thread, thanked those who has used the RTP system - prompting him to present another padlock.Square Eyes wrote:And isn't it more confusing for members when one mod is involved in the off topic discussion, and another comes along and locks the thread ?

I saw no reason for locking the thread myself, so anyone else can moan at me for whatever. I don't really bother moderating over at TV Forum anymore because a) Charlie does it all a little too efficently (didn't they say the same aboutn Hitler) and b) Even the seasoned members don't care much anymore.
Good Lord!
