*Apparetnly*, by the time I get home from work today my Cable line will be upgraded from 1MB to 4MB at no extra cost.

Do we have any other Telewesters here to confirm if such a change has taken place?

If it's like NTL, you have to go to the website and upgrade from there. Then all the lights go out on your modem for a few moments, and then they start flickering - once they've settled, you should get the connection bubble appear in the taskbar.

Sadly, ADSL is crap and I'm stuck on 1MB broadband for the forseeable future. Grrr - it's far more expensive than cable, because you have to pay a BT line rental fee ontop of whatever your ISP charges. It's a rip-off.

If you have the option of cable broadband, go for that. It's far more reliable, faster and cheaper!

I've heard from friends that Blueyonder are doing this.

Blueyonder is the internet name for Telewest.

It's not cheaper if you get bulldog, just crap :) Also, it's plenty fast for me, your location just sucks (as do you, haaa).

Actually I've got 4-6 meg to look forward to, which will work out cheaper than the capped 3 meg ntl are pushing even with the phone line included.

My location?

I'm in Cardiff bay living in a development which is less than 2 years old. I'm a 5 minute walk from the National Assembly buildings & financial area of Cardiff, so you'd think I would be able to get more than 1MB on this shitty line.

If I were back in Pembrokeshire, I would be amazed to get 1mb, but surely the capital city of a nation should have a better comunication infrastructure?

If you haven't got anything constructive to say, then piss off and go to the gym.

I've noticed that the vast majority of your posts are pointless and more-often-than-not jumping on some bandwagon. Give it a rest.

You should probably check your line stats on the router and make sure you can't get 2mb, the BT standard test can be wrong sometimes.

There are many sites that tell you if you're capable of more. You'll want Signal (to noise) ratio and attenuation both up and down if you want to ask them.

Having said that, you're IN WALES. So OBVIOUSLY your location is Piss-poor :P

One of BT's pan-european network sites is in Cardiff.

It's a bit like Pembrokeshire and gas. They're building a huge LNG terminal at Milford Haven which will supply a huge percentage of the UK's gas supply, and yet Pembrokeshire itself will remain off-limits to mains gas.

I'm not talking about infrastructure. I'm just mocking the fact that you're in Wales, you see.

Clever really ;) Well, when you compare me to James H. That's why I have him kept alive you see.
