"Repeatable" Hibernation... A Computer Query

Hi,

How do I save the state of a computer's memory as it is? Thus, as though I were putting the machine into hibernation but iwthout it deleting the "hibernation" files after resuming. I can't imagine it's THAT difficult!

Of course, for my purposes, a program that saves the satate of an individual program would be good enough, come to think of it. Whichever's easier :)
