Okay, there's the likes of Joynic and sites which have annoying things at the end of the domain and everything.

However, does anyone know a different service that provides free domains that is, well, good?

Thanks

FreeNetNames used to give one away if you used their dial-up service.

But you had to pay £95 if you wanted to transfer the domain name away from FreeNetNames.

Anyway a .co.uk domain these days costs about £10 - hardly expensive.

Can be less than £10: a co.uk or .me.uk etc will cost just £3.04 per year from 123-reg.co.uk

.co.uk domains are £1.99+VAT (£2.34) a year from http://www.oneandone.co.uk. They're a big professional outfit, I've used them many times, and they don't charge transfer fees if you want to leave them.

But they make it difficult to move or delete a domain name.

Yup, they are not the best to deal with either. I don't rate the hosting either, if it's anything other than static html they seem to be stumped, and don't start me on the control panel!

I fully recommend 123reg though. :)
