HSBC moments

I've just come back from a lovely two weeks on a Greek island. Weather was fab, where I was staying was beautiful, but to get out and see the rest of what the island had to offer had decided to hire a car.

Plonking myself in this beautiful Hyundai with a maximum speed of a stoned snail, I set off on my adventure.

I like to think I'm a courteous driver, and believe than manners are important too. But I was somewhat confused when I thanked a driver in the usual fashion, and in return got a rather evil glare.

It emerged, to my amusement, when talking to someone staying at the same apartments who had been to Greece a little more than me, that sticking the palm of your hand up to someone is a particularly rude gesture.

Oops.

Have any other fellow forumers inadvertentantly offended the locals while abroad, and if so, how ;)

You need to post some pictures of your holiday.

With your daddy receiving a knighthood recently I’m surprised Sultan Singh didn’t get you a private jet to Mexico or somewhere coconuts are harvested rather than some smelly intolerant resort which looks identical to Spain.

So it must be refreshing to know that whatever someone has in front of their name, it doesn't necessarily turn them in to a stuffy nosed, patronizing cunt, gleefully throwing money about here there everywhere.

It's not so much of an insult, but when I was in France, they place your change on the counter and you have to pick it up, unlike the UK where you leave your hand outstretch for it to placed into your palm.

Damn Johnny Foreigners. Some of them didn't even speak English... :lol: </joke>
