He He He...... Why was gumboy banned again?Gavin Scott wrote:There has only ever been a relatively small number of members banned from M247, and that was for flooding the board with spam.
Being belligerent and annoying to other users carries no such penalty.
Usually.

Very well said, mate.johnnyboy wrote:Ultimately, the decision to ban anyone is down to Martin and not myself or Gavin.
Speaking personally, the J.Christie 'crisis' has a number of parallels with the James Martin 'crisis' last year.
We all know we're a bitchy lot and most of us have been the target of one or more other posters' attentions at one time or another.
Admittedly, J.Christie's "Mum" thread was dunderheaded and can not be defended by someone with an ounce of grey matter.
However, I, for one, admire his James Martin-like ability to come back and fight his corner. He sometimes goes looking for fights, which doesn't help his own cause, but he is showing all the credentials needed to become the next James Martin.
On the general subject of banning, even if I could, I struggle to think of the circumstances that would have to occur to ban someone - the only example I could think of would be Keef Whyte. MP247 is very different to TV Forum, and I want it to stay that way.

Being compared to James Martin is not a compliment, mate.J.Christie wrote:Very well said, mate.

Has the PM system on TV Forum been removed to save bandwidth or something?
Ever since receiving Asa's PM about it taking up too much resource and them all being deleted soon, all I ever get when I try to send one is:-
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: phpbb_clean_username() in /home/virtual/site224/fst/var/www/html/forum/privmsg.php on line 1147"

Yes, I got that PM as well re. Asa deleting all the messages before 1st July.
I wonder why this appears to have been an "issue" though - I would have thought that fixing the problem with the "TVF too busy" message that keeps on popping up would be more of a priority than deleting people's messages.

But have you been able to SEND a PM since you received Asa's message, Chris?
No. I've just tried it and get the following: -Nick Harvey wrote:But have you been able to SEND a PM since you received Asa's message, Chris?
