Incidently, I was doing a spot of evening shopping in the city centre earlier, and popped into Starbucks for a coffee and a bite to eat.

One medium sized Latté and a ham salad roll cost me a fiver!!!!

Is it just me, or does £100 just seem to be like a tenner was just a decade ago? Madness.

God, I can't wait for the economic crash. Prices will have to fall in the shops, to keep inflation down, and I will be happily pointing and laughing at those gits who drive around in flashy cars owned by the bank, huge mortgages and half their home furnishings on HP.

At least everything I own, I own outright.

I couldn't agree more. This is why I disagree entirely with people who are intent on getting into property now; there is never a worse time to buy a house imo. That you can afford to get a mortgage now is irrelevant, if in 5 years time the property market crashes (which I believe could be part of a general ecomonic crash) and you are left in negative equity which will take you 15 years to recover from, was your mortgage really worth it when people will then be able to waltz in and buy a property bigger and better than yours with a lesser mortgage than you are stuck with?

I still think the biggest crash yet to come this year will be petrol prices. Petrol less than 90p a litre seems to be dying out by the day, and it came to my knowledge recently that many garages have broken the psycological barrier of £1 / litre. This is entirely unacceptable and cannot continue. The last fuel strike succeeded in pushing average prices back from around 83p to 65p, and succeeded in holding back most UK forecourts from those prices again for 4 years, and I'm sure a second one is entirely on the cards before this year is out with the same aim of getting petrol prices back to merely a rip off (as it always is in this country) as opposed to being nothing short of financial rape.

I went to buy a roll for my breakfast and the lady in the sandwich bar gave me a huge bag of finger rolls (free) to put in my freezer. They had too many delivered and didn't want to keep them.

Which was nice.
