I think it's natural for mothers to tend to be protective of their sons and for fathers to tend to be protective of their daughters, but I don't think that constitutes favourtism. Can't say I've ever favoured one parent over the other, nor have I ever felt that I've been favoured/not favoured by one parent over the other.
