Rehousing all my TV and audio kit today from a tatty old steel shelving unit along with my decision to finally pension off the OnDigital box (and the TUTV subscription due to moving back home for the summer and the impending installation of cable TV when going back to uni) for something more modern into a nice new wooden doodah which conceals my ever growing collection of STBs has led me to start one of these threads again - maybe even with pictures when I find the lead to my digicam, oh the excitement!
So, my televisual delights are provided by means of the following:
Samsung 21" 4:3 TV set - at least 10 years old, with all sorts of modern wonders like a single scart socket and mono sound.
Sharp VC-M302 VCR
Pace MSS-1000 Analogue Satellite Receiver (absolutely beautiful piece of kit), 1 dish on Astra 1, the other on Hotbird. This box also takes on the role of being the connecting hub for the whole setup, due to the mid-90's level of connectivity on my mid-90's TV
Pace BSkyB 2200 Digital Satellite Receiver on Hotbird (and yes using a Sky box for anything other than Sky is a truly painful experience). Since I'm on the verge of abandoning Hotbird, I'll probably just move the dish over to Astra 2 and use it as a Sky box with an FTV only viewing card.
Bush DFTA-3 DTT receiver (nice box, but disappointed that there is no 14:9 setting - something the Goodmans GDB3 I briefly had in 2003 DID have).
Apex AD-1100 DVD Player (ultra-cheap DSG unit sold under half a million different brand names, does the job though and you can't argue with it's £24.99 price tag.
Sharp CD-PC651 hifi. A 5 speaker Dolby Prologic thing. Used mainly as an amplifier for all the other kit.
What's your entertainment area like?
At present, I'm in the process of aquiring new equipment and flogging the older stuff. But the equipment I have at the moment is *deep breath*:
Bush 28" Widescreen TV with stand
Amstrad Sky Digital box
Technics DVD player
Toshiba surround input along with 5.1 speakers
2003 Packard Bell desktop PC
Dell 1.9mhz widescreen laptop
Behringer UB802 6-bus mixing console
Rode NT1 microphone and stand
Lots of cables
Yamaha DJX2
Korg X5D keyboard/controller
Focusrite Voicemaster Pro
Sony Mini-Disc recorder/player
And I'm going to be getting a Neumann TLM 103 which is gonna set me back around £500-600 8)

Have you priced this out from anywhere Mr P? They have a recommended retail price of £645 + vat, but I can do you a deal on them.Jamez wrote:And I'm going to be getting a Neumann TLM 103 which is gonna set me back around £500-600 8)

If you can get me one for under £550, that would be greatGavin Scott wrote:Have you priced this out from anywhere Mr P? However, today I handed over £1,000 in cash to the letting agency for the bond, first months rent and agency fees for my new waterside apartment - so I'm going to be watching the pennies for a few months at least!

You don't have to tell me. After doing well with my finances for months and months I've landed myself in a right pickle with a bunch of one-off payments all at once. It's going to set me back for a bit - and I'm not finished spending yet. See the Apple thread when I update it to find out more.Jamez wrote:If you can get me one for under £550, that would be great

I could sell you the mic for £450 plus the vat. The trade always list prices excluding vat - the total comes in at £528.75. A cursory glance at some websites suggests this is about as good as you will find. This I should point out is being offered in my capacity as sales manager in an entertainment industry supplier of 30 years. It is in no way a "dodgy" transaction and offers you all of the protection within law under the Sale of Goods Act. The price reflects that you are at friend, and I can do deals at my discretion.
Anyway, once you (like me) get your money back on track give me a shout if you are interested. You are always welcome.
