Hi, need some technical advice here!

Just bought myself a snazzy widescreen LCD TV that I also use as a monitor for my computer. Only thing is, when on PC mode, everything is stretched to fill the screen from the shape of a normal shape monitor. I've downloaded the driver but it still don't change to 16:9, so is there any way of doing this? Basically I want a 16:9 picture from my computer. Would this require a new graphics card, or can it be done with my current one?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

You've tried all the resolutions in display properties I presume? there should be some widescreen ones in there 1280 x 720 for example.

I've bought myself a snazzy new monitor (i hope) but it doesn't arrive till next week :(

Yep tried them all. Looked in the properties for the display adaptor and it lists all the various screen size things you can have, but none of them are 16:9.

It should tell you on the box what its native resolution and refresh rate is. Do you have a decent graphics card or some onboard shite?

It's not a TV/LCD prob it is the graphics card, however most cards now-a-days can do any res its just a matter of finding the profile/drivers etc needed. Find the make/model of you card/chip and download the latest drivers. That should give you more options.

Also don't look for 16:9 4:3 etc as in you won't find them on a PC but look for a res that's wider than it is taller. If you get my drift.

Cheers guys, have updated my driver and am now viewing in 1280 x 768 or something - just found out what make of graphics card I had and went on their website for a driver update. Feels weird but I kinda like it!
