No because you'd have some Paul McKenna wannabe bringing a black-widow in a jar at the end of your sessions.

Yes, that's exactly the reason I wouldn't even contemplate it!

I often wish I had a less common phobia (seems I'm a snob in EVERYTHING!) as people just don't seem to take the spider thing seriously. :?

I borrowed a Paul McKenna CD for confidence, can't say it completely changed me but I did start doing things I've never done before... not in a Lipton Ice Tea kind of way, but I'd be more talkative and the level of anxiety and nervousness I'd feel if I was in a crowd doesn't feel as bad, although I still feel it.

The CD is as far as I'm willing to go though. If I can get over something on my own I'd rather do it that way, and leave hypnotherapy as a last resort. Fair enough if you have no other choice, but how are you supposed to feel you've achieved something if you've cheated? I was terrified of spiders, but the more I look at them and get closer to one the less fear I feel. That's probably the best way to overcome something, just face it.

However, if I were to stumble upon a severely terrifying and ghastly mock, hypnotherapy would be my first choice.
