I like being called James.

At least it's not a common chav name like Lee, Dave, Tony etc., also I don't think I would get used to being called something else.

True.. as I've never really used it it's not so bad. Just amazes me how many James's there are, and how many left handers. But agreed Lee and Mark are poor names...

How many ways are there of spelling or saying God?

Out of intrest Mr.P how much thought, research have you put into this? How exactly do you go about changing your name, does it cost, and what about all the documents that would need updating?

You can do it online on the government website, but opted to have the forms sent to me. There is a charge, and then you get your deed poll certificate sent to you, which is recognised by all government departments, banks, passport etc.

You can call yourself anything you like as long as it's not vulgar, offensive or impossible to pronounce.

Oh thanks you wanker. But... agreed all the same. I always say I'm going to change my name, I'm too much of a wimp though. I don't want to change it to something that'll turn out to be ten times worse, but then it can't be much worse than it already is. The only name worse than mine is Herbert Littlewinkle.

I've decided to take an old family name from my mums side. It's slightly posher than my current one, and I doubt I have the piss taken out of it! :p

For privacy and security reasons, I'm not going to make it public just yet. Not until the bank, DVLA etc. are informed.

Changing your name won't help you run away from your TV Licence, James!

Try a name over a bad phone line to people and make sure they don't come back with "pardon", or "how do you spell that". If you're going to use it on radio, that's even more important as your listeners won't have the opportunity to say "pardon".

I was *always* a Steven, but the ambiguous spelling was becoming a pain, particularly as there was a Stephen with the same surname at work who kept getting my email. Being Steve seems to save hassle
