Well I have to say I am surprised that London is actually in the final two, although very glad. I was expecting the US or Spain to be in the final two.
So who do the people of Metropol247 think will win the 2012 bid.
Do you think we will beat Paris or do you think we will just miss out?
Be interesting to know your thoughts on this subject seeing as we are actually in the final two.
The Olympics us Vs Paris
True but people are warming to it a bit more. Most people in Startford who object to it are in run down factories that should have been pulled down years ago & have a really cheap rentJamez wrote:The Olympics is just a farce. To be honest anything to just improve the eyesaw that is Stratford, especially "Stratford Mountain"
Johnny
Harry Hill : "What is it about people that repair shoes that makes them so good at cutting keys? Try going in there with a shoe shaped like a key and see how confused they get."

and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out why. It costs a fortune to set up the olympics, and few countries actually make it back. The tourism only generates a certain amount of money. We'll end up with a load of stadia whose overall purpose will be of no interest or benefit to me.Jamez wrote:the support of the people of London isn't there.
It's quite refreshing to see that France may be lumbered with it instead of us

I voted Paris but it's more out of hope than anything else. I don't want a vast amount of our economy spent on something we'll see for about a month. Not only will we keep pennies in our pockets if Paris wins but also it will be times that suit us as well. It's also easy to get there if you want to go to the games yourself. Ho hum.
probably because most of the country wants the games to come here, and what chance would our bid have if the media did not back London?cdd wrote:Is it me or do most news broadcasts seem biased in favour of the bid? The BBC has a duty to remain impartial. It's like them backing Labour just before a general election. Not impressed at all!time warp wrote:probably because most of the country wants the games to come here, and what chance would our bid have if the media did not back London?cdd wrote:Is it me or do most news broadcasts seem biased in favour of the bid? Thing is - and I may get shot down in flames here... I'd prefer to hop across the Channel and see an Olympics in Paris and sample some of the culture there than travel a slightly shorter distance to London and get stuck on the underground.
Yes, would be nice to have them in the UK. But we probably won't win this time, 2016 we'd be out of it because they'd be in Paris and hence too close in London 4 years later, so 2020 is probably the earliest if we don't win. Maybe...!

I'm hoping we don't get the Olympics. All the benefit but without the hassle. Spot on.huddsguy wrote:Thing is - and I may get shot down in flames here... Good Lord!
It really annoys me when people in this country have the attitude that if we win the games "we'll just make a mess of it anyway".
We'll never get the chance to do anything with that attitude.
Oh, and why shouldn't the BBC be biased - like I'm sure french and american TV stations aren't.....
It's like banning the St. Georges Cross on naval ships near Turkey 'because it might offend them'.
I'm sick of British people sacrificing our traditions and our right of speech just to please other nations.
So there.
Oh. and i vote for London of course.
