Are you beautiful?

There's a new website similar to Faceparty, where ONLY people who are voted good-looking enough are allowed to join. You sign up, fill out your profile (job, income, car etc.) and submit a photo.

You're then submitted to the current members, and they decide if you're worthy enough to join!

I signed up this afternoon, and it really is the most shallow and self-obsessed website ever. You've got dashing Lawyers, male models, dancers, investment bankers etc. all up there (most earning £70k +).

Apparently only 1 in 20 who submit their profile eventually get selected to join this elite website.

Personally, I think it's just a bit of fun. Anyone with a good eye for spotting a fake person will soon see that there are a lot of fake people on there! :)

Similarly, gaydar introduced some kind of 'hot' rating thing for people to nominate and vote for blokes. I thought it seemed a bit shallow in my opinion, to the extent of being a bit sniffy about those who had put themselves forward for it.

Then I got a message saying someone thought I was 'hot', and I thought it was asking me to acknowledge receipt. So I did.

Next thing I realise I have been entered into this beauty pageant. And I have racked up a dozen votes.

I don't know how to remove it without deleting my profile, and I don't want to do that.

So shallow I shall be.

Doesn't work properly on any of the Mac OS Browsers (Including IE)...

(Not that there's any point in entering myself)

How shallow is that?! Actually quite amusing though.

Reminds me of the tagline of the gym run by Ben Stiller's character in "Dodgeball" - something like "We're better than you - and we know it". ;)

and where would that profile be gavin?

I think I shall tart myself up tomorrow and enter it - the pretty people site. I'm hot enough to get in - quite easily.

Don't think I will be popping my profile on here. Anyway, it says virtually nothing other than "message me if you want to know more" and displays the same scowling picture I have here.

Perhaps the 'hot' refers to my chat with people who message me. Or its the verdict from those who have met me.

But I wouldn't want to speculate.

I'll just snap my fingers and a dozen lads will do it for me.

In other words, a site where you can take your pick of good-looking Windows Internet Explorer users! Definitely not Hyma's site, then...

Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, Martin.
