On a special late Tonight with Trevor McDonald on Thursday there was a feature about this new craze "Happy Slapping" where chavs or the black equivilent, no doubt wearing hoodies and baseball caps, go around assaulting members of the public.

Anyone come across this one yet, or got an opinion?

We didn't have none of this sort of thing in the 90s... did we?, everyone was well behaved helping old people across the road with their shopping, wern't they?

I hear that Nick Harvey has aquired an ASBO for happy slapping a 91-year-old woman who was taking too long in the Post Office queue.

If I HAVE acquired one, I'm doing NOTHING about it and taking no special actions, in exactly the same way as those individuals who've got REAL ones.

Let's face it, if you ignore having one, what's going to happen to you? You'll be sentenced to six hours digging Granny's garden. Oh yes, really scary!

Blame the prats who voted Bliar back in.

Well indeed.

I remember when I was alive people making other kids temporarily deaf by slapping them hard on their ears, copying that tango advert.

Mind you they were very common where I'm from.

I helped the same woman across the road probably a dozen times, and each time the cowbag made me late for school. So that's just far too much trouble.

I always help little old ladies across the road when I see them, whether they want to go across or not.

After all, I might be one, one day!

Rest assured Nick - when you're a little old lady I will certainly be helping you across the road.

You know, a couple of days ago I was just about to make this identical thread!

Anyway, not that I've been looking very hard but I've not managed to find a single vid of this.

Nor have I encountered one incident where I live, so I think it's probably just media hype.

I've received the videos through a mate at uni and was told it's generally in the Hammersmith and beyond area - particularly bad in Hounslow I hear.

Although I was told (by him as he knows a couple of people in the most famous vids) that some of it is staged...some of it is real but it's the only time it's ever happened and "Happy Slapping" doesn't occur any other time.

Media hype certainly - it was on BBC LDN about 3 months ago but seems to have flared up again.

Tonight seems to have a habit of taking a point or debate and totally exaggerating the truth and making it into half an hour of tripe.

Highlights for me in the programme on 'Happy Slapping' were the way they tried to totally blame Jackass and Dirty Sanchez for this behaviour. No doubt next time they'll blame Tesco for price fixing... oh, wait....

If some kid was ever stupid enough to" happy slap" me they would certainly get a slap back or a clip round the ear, or their parents would, with the words " sort your bloody child out!".
There dosen't seem to be any respect or morals anymore. I know i'd be in trouble if i was to give a kid a clip round the ear, even though they provoked it. To me it's instinct, you hit me, i hit you back, simple as that.
If i ever done anything like that when i was growing up and an adult slapped me, i wouden't tell my parents as i'd get a right bollocking and another clip round the ear and probably be grounded for a week.
There are some good kids out there but as i always say " a child is a direct reflection upon their parents" ( but only up to a certain age of course).
