The Bluewater shopping centre in the South East has banned people from wearing 'Hoodies' and baseball caps as they are often worn with yobs up to no good

What's your opinion of this, a good idea to stop chavs causing petty vandalism without being seen by CCTV or does it infringe your human rights

It's a <expletive deleted> good idea.
Well done, Bluewater; may the others follow SOON.

I own a hoodie. It's warm and comfortable and I look damned fab in it.
No really.
It pisses me off that I'm going to be tarred with the same brush as a bunch of Chavs simply because I have questionable taste! I also doubt many people think about how they're going to dress when they go shopping. How many people like me are going to get turned away (and thusly riled) from these shops before they work that out?
Cretins, but then, so are the Chavs.
No really.

Knight knight
I used to work in a nightclub, and all hoodies, coats, and hats were banned - simply so if they happened to glass or knife somebody they could be identified through CCTV.
Sadly, in today's culture, measures like these are necessary.

Well if you don't wear the hood up, in an indoor shopping centre, and don't swagger about with 5 mates all also wearing hoods I'm sure you'll be alright.Sput wrote:I own a hoodie. It's warm and comfortable and I look damned fab in it.

Isn't it funny when you see gangs of pre-teen kids all hooded up looking like they own the place. I remember when I was at school wearing the hood of your coat up was seen as uncool.
I think this is very unfair - not all "Chavs or Scallies, Neds or whatever" are yobs who go arround smashing windows, mugging people.
There is quite a large amount of what has been called Middle class scallies and Gay Scallies. Most of us / them are very nice.
Its like saying (this is NOT my opinion) all black people are murders, muslims are terrorists and gay people are camp as F***.
People need to see past the people that are in the limelight people have some very powerfull pri conceptions of groups of people. And I will admint there are some basis to them however not everyone is the same.
Sorry - rant over - just winds me up.
