I think this was done regardless of public opinion. Corporate branding is, after all, far more important.
Problem is that their new logo is so indistinctive. When HSBC did it the whole thing looked far more impressive and went from a fairly out-dated symbol and logo to a modern, fresh new look.
This seems to be the reverse. With a steaming loaf of crusty bread as their logo.
abbey staff were well and truly lied to when the takeover was announced. They said abbey would be owned by the spanish bank but would remain in complete control of how they run the business.
they said some IT jobs would go as they moved the It systems to thier own.
then they said 1000 jobs would go, now its 3000.
I left before the merger was official now alot of my friends have been handed redunducy notices.
