Ah, didn't realise this was a parent company imposing its branding. I suppose that makes a bit more sense... although not much.nodnirG kraM wrote:But it's not their corporate branding so it has no importance whatsoever. The Spanish company now calls the shots and their branding is far more important than anyone elses. No matter how bad it is.

The trouble with Morrisons logo is that it's only traditional of the 1970s, rather than being classically timeless. It just looks tired and dated... and rather unfriendly.nodnirG kraM wrote:Morrisions however is also in a "traditional" guise. Serif fonts seem to promote this theme, and that's what Morrisons have. And yet noone on this forum seems to approve of the M logo.
The Griffin? Out-dated? Never!nodnirG kraM wrote:Problem is that their new logo is so indistinctive. When HSBC did it the whole thing looked far more impressive and went from a fairly out-dated symbol and logo to a modern, fresh new look.

(I'm assuming you're talking about the former Midland, and not any previous logo of its parent)
The Morrisons 'M' has been used since the dawn of time, and technically as it is still a family run Business I don't think el Kenny Morrison isn't going to change it. The only thing that gets refreshed is the use of fonts in promotions, everything to do with promotions got a big shake up last year when they bought up Safeway, then previous to that the last look they brought in was in 2000, and believe me the current look with fonts etc now is far better compared to the old look.Spencer For Hire wrote:The trouble with Morrisons logo is that it's only traditional of the 1970s, rather than being classically timeless. I don't really like the morrisons logo on shop products etc - but the current TV/Print ad campaign is excellent, it gives the impression of almost a M&S standard store.. we know it's not though..
Really good advertising campaign. More Reasons to Shop at..

There are some things money can't buy, for everything else there's MasterCard.nodnirG kraM wrote:Does you does or does you don't take Access?
Whatever happened to them?
Access comes under the 'everything else' category. 'Your Flexible Friend' was introduced in 1972, but was taken over by MasterCard in 1996. Credit cards were gradually changed to reflect the takeover between 96 and 98.
MasterCard are quite fussy about their brand.
