Do you mean the possible EMAP takeover? Is this confirmed by the way?babyben wrote:Enjoy Scottish Radio with SRH just now, cause it's all about to change

Slightly ironic that the topic veered off cousre to talk about radio groups, but now actually fits the thread perfectly as most 'local' group owned radio stations are now exactly the same, but with different station names.Antz wrote:Do you mean the possible EMAP takeover? There seems to be mixed messages on a possible Emap takeover.
As I recall, during one summer in the early 1990s, Pepsi had a range of 3 or 4 limited edition 500ml cans of regular Pepsi, withBen wrote:It's true, I definitly remember them back in the early 90s.scottishtv wrote: I'd never seen a 500ml can of a soft drink before and am now a proud owner. special "summery" designs emblazoned upon them. IIRC, this was roughly 6 or 7 months before Pepsi Max was introduced . . .
I always remember you could buy the 500ml Cans of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke in Kwik Save for some reason.
I also remember in 2000 when Pepsi had a promotional 600ml bottle, rather than the standard 500ml.
Here's another one (IIRC they are the same company) Exxon and Esso?

It'll happen. Would be great business sense for Emap to grab SRH. They have a strong foothall in Scotland.. guess what Emap don't have...scottishtv wrote:Slightly ironic that the topic veered off cousre to talk about radio groups, but now actually fits the thread perfectly as most 'local' group owned radio stations are now exactly the same, but with different station names.Antz wrote:Do you mean the possible EMAP takeover? Then the stations become clones of each other and the unique blend of Scottish Radio is lost forever...
Yeah, I hope SRH put up a good fight for the likes of Forth and Clyde. They have 4 very good stations, and it would be a shame to seem them going downhill with "ECRAP".Hymagumba wrote:I do like the SRH stations as they are quite distinctive from ecrap. would be a shame if they were taken over.

No, they don't. Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH) owns 22 stations, including its flagship Radio Clyde in Glasgow. Its station holdings also include Downtown Radio in Northern Ireland, Radio Ireland, and Carlisle Radio in England. SRH's other media businesses include Score Press (45 weekly newspapers across the UK and Ireland) and Score Outdoor (some 4,500 billboards in England and Scotland). It also offers digital radio services. It was awarded six multiplexes.Antz wrote:I hope SRH put up a good fight for the likes of Forth and Clyde. They have 4 very good stations.
Some of the most common Scottish stations are Forth 1 & 2, Clyde 1 & 2, Tay FM & AM, Northsound 1 & 2, Moray Firth Radio and Radio Borders.
I know SRH hold more than Forth and Clyde, I was just using them as examples because they are probably the most popular SRH stations.scottishtv wrote:No, they don't. The US is big enough to have different brands for the same product within its borders. A popular brand of ice cream is known as Edy's east of the Rockies...

...but Dreyer's to the west of the mountain chain:

The company also owns two other brands, but Edy's and Dreyer's are just two names for the same product line.

What ever happened to Nestlé Flipz? Those pretsels covered in chocolate. Everyone I know liked them, so why did they get rid of them?
