Heyho. I was just wondering what the boards opinions on CCTV is?
We've just had them installed at work, which now means I can't sneak out for a fag in the afternoon. Im really quite miffed at my boss's decision. Has anyone else had this? What can I do, bar wearing a ski mask...

Smoke on your break period.

Or...

Would your boss indulge a 'special understanding' along the lines of, "I won't take breaks, I'll grab a quick ciggie here and there instead"?

As my excellent boss allows.

Give up smoking. It'll improve your health and you won't wreak of the smell of fags when you walk back into the office.

I worked at a theme park a couple of years ago, and in the middle of the season they installed 3 CCTV cameras which recorded everything the staff did on each ride.

Everyday I would get the boss coming over to give me a bollocking. The thrid day he came over to 'discuss' things with me, I resigned there and then and walked out of the park.

5 other staff followed me in the days afterwards!

Were you the guy with the microphone who shouts "Scream if you wanna go FASTERRRRRR!" in a James Martin-esque voice?

A friend of mine worked part time in a franchised outlet owned by a guy living in Australia. He could watch what was going on through CCTV from his home in Australia and even type in messages to those working at the time. Seems like the kind of guy that has more money than sense.

I wear nicotine patches if i have to go long periods without smoking, the gum is just, YAK!!! Having an arrangement with your boss like Gavin Scott has with his sounds like the best solution.

Umm, well it was on a water roller coaster in the woods, a long way from the admin buildings. I thought it was safe to have a ciggy over down there when no customers were around!

I was also caught 'abusing' H&S regulations.
