in fact, i hate a cluttered desktop so much, i've disabled it's use using the group policy editor.

i store my downloads in my temp folder in my user profile (unless i want to keep them, in which case they go in 'my downloads' in the 'my documents' folder. i've changed the places bar on the open/save dialog using tweak ui so i've always got a quick shortcut to it.

Seriously, it's a great place to store downloads, etc.
I tidied my desktop by removing loads of the downloads (the screen was almost full of mpg's and wmv's and exe's), and I changed the wallpaper from just plain black to a clever blue swishy thing I did with the digital camera a while ago!

I'm hardly going to post a pic of a messy desktop am I?

(Hence why I haven't taken a photo of my computer area yet - waaaayy too messy what with the empty cans of beer, cables, cd's etc etc.) ;)

My desktop has two columns of icons (most of which are there for show like Excel and Access) and then a third column of "recently downloaded, not sorted" and a bunch on the right hand side of "i need to do now" things which get done because they clutter things up.

That's a more than incredible background, James. I'd quite happily flaunt it if I had such a picture. But because it's got me in it or someone slightly more amazing I don't know ;)

Can you put up the Parky picture, Row? For old time's sake!

I just sent James a PM about his picture, and was tempted to mention the Parky pic, but thought I'd be a good boy. But I'm more than flattered you remembered that, Dan.

That may *look* like David Attenborough, but it is in fact our very own Sir Nick Harvey, but without his beard and specs! :)
