Prime Minister Tony Blair,s next high profile interview is with little Ant and Dec. So rather than face someone like Nick Robinson from ITN or Jeremy Paxman from the BBC he takes the easy way out.

Just been browsing through this elections manifesto from the Monster Raving Loony Party's website. I have to admit I did find it quite titilating. My favourite pledges are:

We will issue a 99p coin to save on change.

In reaction to the old adage, “Children are so honest” we intend to reduce the age of standing for parliament from 21 to 5.

Bright pupils will be provided with dimmer switches to prevent them distracting the rest of the class.

All children will be given two birthdays like the Queen.

Pram lanes will be created in all shopping centres.

All police will be made to say HELLO, HELLO, HELLO when making an arrest, this will treble the police force.

All foxes will be issued with sheep’s clothing.

All WMD’s (weapons of Mass Distraction) will be made highly visible so that we can find them.

And my favourite, meals will be served on plates not on wheels.

My favourite OMRLP pledge was at the last election, and their terrorism policy:

Bombs will be put in the fridge to stop them going off.

Interestingly, the pet passport scheme that is now available to all was actually a Loony Party policy in the early 90s!

I hope Sky interview the leader again. At the last election, they had Lord Hope and his cat (joint leaders) interviewed on the Adam Boulton show and it was fantastic. The little cat was jumping all over the desk.

But now it is dead. It got run over shortly after the election. I suspect a plot.

Aye.. that's why he faced the general public audience on sky twice

Have we seen Dracula.. sorry Howard doing this? Nope!

Good on Blair for doing that interview.. then he was good on UKRadioAid too..

You wonder why people don't like politics... I say it's refreshing to see a PM who appears on programmes like that - can you see John Major doing it?

P.S. Nick Robinson? Oooh tough interviewer... should have gone to specsavers though

Oh, now come on. Tony Blair did that Sky News 'day' as part of a very clear election strategy, it's nothing about taking into consideration the views of the public. I agree that he's probably more in-touch with people than Michael Howard or any of the other past PMs (remember Thatcher on Nationwide?)

His whole election campaign is based around getting out there and talking to the voters. This is for two reasons:

a) It makes him look more receptive to the needs of British people, but actually produces no concrete results whatsoever. Policy is still formulated through thinktanks and advisers, not people on council estates who talk to the PM

b) It neutralises the impact of people coming up to him during the campaign (think Sharon Storer -sp?- in 2001) because he gets confronted so often by these people that it just isn't a news story anymore, whereas just one person doing that in an entire campaign is.

It's very clever and calculated... looks fantastic, works even better. Anyone who thought the Tories were running a smarter campaign than anyone else hasn't thought about it properly.

England should have it,s own devolved parliament(not regional assemblies!)with the same powers as the Scottish parliament. The Welsh and Ulster assemblies should be upgraded to full devolved parliament status. There should be no use of proportional representation in any elections in the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced the date of the next General Election today. A SENIOR judge yesterday condemned the Goverment,s failure to tackle fraud in postal voting ahead of the General Election. Richard Mawrey QC spoke out after hearing evidence of fraud that "would disgrace a banana republic " in the case of 6 Labour councillors who rigged last year,s local elections in Birmingham.

Yes because the Tories would really go for that if elected wouldn't they.

The simple fact is that you're not voting for any particular party to be honest. You're just voting for "the government". The only thing you are actually allowed to have a say in is which bunch of tossers fuck up the country.
