Recording from VHS to DV camera, Is is possable?

is it possable to Copy a VHS tape on to a DV "Camcorder" Tape?

I ask as I have been asked to edit some footage and then burn to DVD but I can only import from a DV sorce.

Depends on what equipment you're using - my DV Camera has an analog input so I just plug in and press record

If it does have the above connections but you're not sure if they'd work, then try plugging your source into them and press play on your VCR - then go into the play mode on your camera and try pressing the record button - if it comes up then bingo!

If not you may be able to do it another way (thats the way for a Canon XL1S)

Right, i've only just found the camcorder.

it has these ports;
LANC port (what's this?)
S Video out
Audio/Video out
USB out
DV out
Mic in
Power in.

Wil any of these work?

LANC Port is where you can plug in a remote for the camera.

I'm not sure whether it would be possible with those ports unless you try the technique I said above

Most domestic DV Cams don't allow for an analogue input, indeed most DV Cams in the UK (unlike many other parts of the world) don't allow for DV in - where you edit on a PC and transfer DV back to the camera.

You can modify some of these UK camcorders to take DV in (try a google search for that), but analogue in is a very specific function and unless you have a composite or S-Video in on your camcorder (and it sounds like you don't) then you won't be able to do it.

Guess i'll have to try renting the Video sweet at Film and video acccess. then.

Oh I know the girl who runs that place (of you mean the one in Edinburgh).

Yes, a good solution. If they are booked solid you could also try renting equipment from the Warehouse in Leith.

PS: Its suite, not sweet.

Yeah their nice people, I did a couple of videos for a youth group in there.
