It's a fairly respectable spec for the time - many desktop machines (let alone portables, which until a few years ago always lagged behind their desktop counterparts) at that time wouldn't have had a hard drive at all, and use of the 3.5" disks was quite forward thinking at the time too - an awful lot of manufacturers were still holding firmly on to the awful 5.25" disk format in 1988.
