Things fall apart when I'm not at home, and the PC is now riddled, crawling, fit to burst with spyware and nastiness.
Ages ago, someone here posted a link to some software that essentially expands on the Task Manager - showing EVERYthing that's running, what it is, where it is, and the like.
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Tank ya.
"Expanded" task manager?

Hello Dan. Are you running XP Pro? I'm out of touch with other OSs but certainly there should be a "Processes" tab to click on in the task manager showing all of the current running processes, and how much RAM they are using up.
By the way, how much longer will you be away from us?

Hello Mr Scott... I shall remain away from you a couple more weeks until Easter, then I'm the forum's for a month or so! Then we're investing in broadband over the summer so who knows - I might remain here... scary stuff.Gavin Scott wrote:Hello Dan. Are you running XP Pro? The Processes tab is useful, but it doesn't show every little bit that's running or provide any info about the process. I've found a bit of software called Security Task Manager - that's the kind of thing that I was looking for.

Ahh. I've only ever struggled along with the processes tab; with mixed results. There are currently 33 unique processes at play on my system, and I'm not sure what half of them are for. I'm making the assumption that they are benign as my system is freshly installed with fairly robust security. I may try this Security Task Manager you mention.DAS wrote:Hello Mr Scott... Delighted to hear you will be back for a time.

The processes tab does show every little bit the system is running, just to let you know.

Well my computer would disagree with you. There are bits showing up on software that are not on Task Manager.orrysos wrote:The processes tab does show every little bit the system is running, just to let you know.
Thanks for that Andrew - precisely what I was looking for.
