I've worked in many a London office and just about everyone I have come across has argued with me till they're blue in the face that the word "abovementioned" should be written as two words - "above mentioned"...

As in...

"I refer to the above mentioned document...."

Whenever I have typed it as one word, I've always had somebody mark it up to show a space should be inserted, and when I've protested that it is indeed correct, I've been outvoted by a sizeable majority and made to look like I'm the one who's the fool (or, as they would write it, "like I'm the one whose the fool"). When I've pointed out that the spell checker reports it as correct, I've been told it's "because that's the American spelling" ... :roll:

i really dislike Tesco's new adverts, they are really quite poor and cheep (haha, a reference to the dire advert that was on the bus stops).

The Prunella Scales adverts were vastly superior.
