Yep it's time to place your bets Banzai style.

Whilst I appreciate the Pope has been dead since 1992 when will his death be officially announced? I'm going for Friday myself but I'd be thrilled to hear your opinions.

Also, let's continue the discussion re: the Pope being responsisble for the deaths of millions we were having on TVF (which will probs be closed at some point tonight, we coul have a poll on that too)

I was just driving home and was trying to think of something good that he's done. I couldn't. Anyone?

I think it is quite bad that they have to stay in charge until they die. He has been ill for years, let him retire

He could retire but he doesn't want to.

Oh right, I was always told that they couldn't.

Does Pope have to be a virgin to become Pope?

Dunno, I think the main requirement is a complete detachment from reality.

I think it's important to remember that the current Pope has been quite radical and charismatic in many ways - as well as being highly conservative in other areas.

I wonder what the next Pope will be like?

I guess for people of my generation we can't remember a time when the the Pope was anything other than an old, infirm figure.

While I was living in Madrid a couple of years ago the Pope came to Spain to canonise four Spanish saints. I was there in the huge crowd. Whatever your faith or denomination, certainly an incredible experience to be at a ceremony like that.

Yes, but give me some examples of the "good" that he's done...

This thread is in really bad taste.

I'm catholic, and whilst i don't agree with everything the Church says, a little more respect should be shown to the old guy than what is being show here.

Hyma, you should be ashamed of yourself for making/taking bets on when a fellow HUMAN BEING will pass on. verry disrespectful.
