In late November 2003, a troll signed up as "james_martin_2004" pretending to be me. Martin was convinced this was me, incognito, and therefore banned me immediately without any opportunity to defend myself. IP checks would have revealed that I was not this troll. Understandably, this hacked me off somewhat.
The bit everyone remembers is that I began a website around this time last year to basically defend myself and say I didn't do it and the evidence that amounted to it, given I'd felt strongly over the subject. While trying to defend myself, I was having a laugh with it too to show the contribution that I could make to the community if allowed.
Anyway, much debate followed until I decided to actually troll Metropol for real, under the guise of "Flava" (named after the Peter Andre song who was having his career jointly revived by "I'm A Celeb" and Chris Moyles at the time) - Martin caught on and let me stay under the Flava name - as Si-Co and others will know, I still use the name Flava over at TV Forum.
With the site's first anniversary in August looming, I polled the members to see if they felt it right that I should revert back to using my real name. With the poll in my favour, Martin asked me would I like to revert back to my real name and I said so, which I did from the point of the site's new look.
The rest, as they say, is history!
Phew! That is a relief; for a moment I thought you must have done something really unacceptable, such as:
- trying to flog campus radio station calendars by sending private messages to forum members
- daring to disagree with Nick Harvey
- spreading rumours about Uncle Bruce's personal life
- uploading an avatar that wasn't a picture of your good self
- leading a heterosexual lifestyle
- steering every thread in the direction of 'It's never been the same since ITV cancelled Crossroads/censored Home and Away* (*delete as appropriate)
