Hey,
My hard disc finaly gave in the ghost after a long time and is now well and truly foocked that the manufacturer won't even beging to tell me what's wrong because it requires replacing. However I have spare hard discs incase of such crisis' and thought I had the last laugh but no.
Right before the incident which caused the drive to die did the drive launch a violent attack on the rest of my data on the other drive... just so happened it almost had an exact mirror of the first drive... Windows XP has recovered most of the files but some are still missing and the expensive data recovery software shows that they files can be recovered although they all now have new names, file001, file002 etc. There is near 2Gb of missing files I'd rather like to get back but the tool I found the files in are going to charge a stonking #150 to get em back - I may as well send the drive to get fixed or recovered professionaly.
Does anyone know of any software that can recover huge amounts of files without paying or paying a very small fee?
