Well someone had to say it.

Firefox's 1.0 release is today - download from http://www.mozilla.org

As of the popularity it will be running slowly so using
http://ftp.eu.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o ... leases/1.0 might be quicker

I can't see the differance from the beta to the final, apart from the lil green "go" but I've removed that.

It's still as wonderful as always.

Needs no comment from me really, except, if you've only ever used Microsoft's antiquated Internet Explorer
to browse the internet, get this and give it a whirl, you won't regret it! Web browsing pleasure guaranteed!

I get that in IE with TVF. There are a few phpBB sites that have that problem actually.

Um, I've never seen that problem in Internet Explorer with TV Forum, nor have I seen it on other PHPBB boards. I've seen it do this in Firefox though.

Actually I'm confusing myself now with a seperate problem that MozillaZine had where everything moved off the right side of the screen.

I've definately seen TVF render like that in IE at school though. We have 5.01 there, that might have something to do with it.

Your school still uses IE5.01?!? A browser from the last century?!? Are your school's network admin staff really that clueless?

It's like putting a big flashing neon sign over the entrance that says "Come on in and help yourselves!", while leaving all the
doors and firedoors unlocked and wide open. All of the world's techno-louts, script kiddies and cyber-chavs must have an
absolute field day whenever they discover a school's network is running completely obsolete browser software!

The systems you're using there will be near breaking point, since they'll have been totally pwned and spywared by now!

If I was put in charge of an IT department like that, as a matter of urgency, I'd have no choice but to disconnect all the
computers from the network, reformat the HDD's and re-program them all from scratch! Swiftly followed by as many
trips to Windows Update as possible. For virus protection, I'd install AVG or AntiVir (both free) on them all, as well
as Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware if need be. If we really have to have IE installed, I'd ensure it's as
upto date as possible, and even then, restrict it's use to Windows Update only. Lastly, but by no means leastly,
for all of the everyday web browsing needs of all the students . . . well, Firefox, what else?!?

Then I'd have the clueless pillock that was running the network, shot! . . . Err no, I meant sacked!

Since those systems are stuck with creakingly ancient installs of IE, there is a way you could use Firefox on them,
without violating the acceptable use policy of your school's IT department. by sneaklly downloading and installing
it. As long as those systems have fully operational USB ports, they're running a version of Windows that fully
supports removable USB devices, install Portable Firefox on a USB pen drive, and use that instead . . . !

While you're about it, you may want to skin the browser with a 3rd party theme that makes it look like IE. So, if
a staff member glances over towards your workstation, they'll think you're still using IE, even though you're not!
