I really can't believe this. That man was a legend. Gave more publicity to bands which otherwise would never have had record deals than anyone else. He died of a heart attack in Peru apparantly. No more Peel Sessions, no more Home Truths.

A sad loss and a truly great DJ. Totally broke the mould and for more than 40 years championed the people that wouldn't have made it big in the traditional pop market.

I can't believe it myself. If nothing else, a great loss to Radio 1 and the many listeners his show had. I certainly hope someone takes over and continues his legacy.
