It's been announced that there will be a third version of "Do They Know It's Christmas", planned for released and now the bookie's favourite to be Christmas Number One.
Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure are behind the event, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the original single, which sold over 3 million copies in the UK and was the best-selling single in British chart history until 1997.
Artists rumoured to be interested in involvement include Coldplay, Travis, the Darkness, Jamelia and Robbie Williams.
Any opinions on this - flogging a dead horse or a cause for celebration? Depending on who's involved, it should be a great single but won't top the 1984 original.

"Was Band Aid II just artists featured on the PWL label (co led by Pete "One True Voice" Waterman?"
Most of them, I remember Lisa Stansfield and Marti Pellow also featured on Band Aid II, neither of them were involved in any PWL productions.

Apparently Damon Alburn, Noel Gallagher & Dido are confirmed so far.
I wonder If Bono will participate this time round, he did in the first one (complete with Mullet in 1984)

Brad:
"Apparantly, Midge Ure wants him to sing the same line he did in the 1984 version, the 'Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you' bit. Justin Hawkins wanted to do it, but was told he was "too falsetto."
OK, I get the joke with the Darkness, but Justin Hawkins singing that line will murder the song. Perhaps Bono could be convinced to do Band Aid III given the calibre of artists involved...
...But will Bananarama make it three versions of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in a row or not?
