London tomorrow...
Hello to the lot of yous.
Have just got back to my room. Been drinking in The Prince Albert and then some cheap beer consumed back in a room on the 8th floor. Magic.
Have signed up for the internet...it's only 56k dialup...well not even that speed due to a very noisy line and it costs £15 a month.
What a rip-off. But with my college being so far away...I need to have access to the net here. And especially be able to talk to my favourite metropolians.
Halls are nothing special. In fact...a bit of a dive. Not worth £115 a week. Even if it is catered. But this area of Battersea is very nice...and my window looks over Battersea Park - and it's pretty quiet. I hear more noise from within the halls than from outside. (despite all the planes overhead going to Heathrow!)
Was a bit concerned until about 6 hours ago. People seemed a bit antisocial...but for some reason I ended up with people I'd not even seen but we're getting on really well already. Have met a few other people - said hello to what feels like thousands of people. They're all doing foundation courses (thickos) - only a few BA students...and even less going to my particular college...but it's nice actually. Good to meet a lot of people...especially the fashion and arts types...they talk at you like you're supposed to know just WHO "insert random name here" is...and are deeply offended if you deny knowledge of ever hearing of them. Bless. Media luvvies - can't beat them!
Definately a different vibe to Coventry already...and I'm thinking the social aspect will be a lot better here. Am looking forward to starting the course too (it's apparently why I'm here...) - enrollment on the 28th Sep and first class on 4th October. A bit of a wait..but it's nice to be able to settle in to halls and meet lots of people first - rather than be overwhelmed by everything happening at once. It also allows me to laugh at the foundation students who had to start at their colleges today. Teehee!
Anyway, I'm rambling - but I'm sure I'm more pissed than I would be after just a few. Well for £2.75 a pint, I suppose I need to get the most out of it!
Ooohhhh...a can of Stella...must save for tomorrow night, I think.
I shall be on pretty regularly, anyway...you know me. I'll take time out to enlighten you with my words of wisdom. As always!

Good Lord!
Hi everyone. Hope everyone who's started Uni are settling in well. I moved in yesterday. Have my room pretty much sorted. In the library now, chuffed I have worked out how to get online after many a failed attempt.
Halls are lovely, met some great people, and I'm happy in the knowledge I cannot cook, as confirmed this morning.

*has doubts as to whether this is 'our' rod* maybe this is a joke by one of his friends, because we all know the REAL rodney would have not let a 'post lots of photos' opportunity pass.rts wrote:Hi everyone. First things first, enjoy uni and good luck etc etc etc
If you happen to be at the Australian Embassy next Monday, I'll be there if you need me.
Yeah, right.

1. It's not CoventryJames Martin wrote:In what way exactly? As a Coventry student I'm just interested!Isonstine wrote:Definately a different vibe to Coventry already...
2. It's London
3. No mentals
4. Lots of good looking fashion students
Just better...halls are less dingy as well and everyone is more willing to socialise.
Had a fantastic night out in Islington last night...not a great place you may say...but we filled a double decker number 19 bus (conductor was bemused) and we had a great time getting there, being there (drinks £1!) and getting very drunk.
We only returned with 9 people though...I think we lost a great many whilst visiting one of the local areas dubious kebab shops. The joys.
All in all...I'm enjoying the social aspect a lot and it's real good fun. I know I'll have to start my course soon but I'm looking forward to it - I've met far too many people at the halls already...there's still some more degree students to arrive yet (am just here rediculously early!) and it will be good to meet lots of people at college too.
Anyway, I fear I'm rambling too much. But I have to entertain myself. Trouble with these foundation student types is that they've already started (HAHA!) so the few degree students that are around have little to do. We make our own fun though...of course!

Good Lord!
