I hate Comic Sans

Yesterday I went into college for the 1st time to start the new term and did all the usual stuff one does at the beginning of term - catch up with friends on what they've been doing over the summer, issue timetables etc, and generally getting back into the swing of things.

I also received some sheets and information from my subjects and guess what, they were all written in hideous Comic Sans MS. Personally, I think Comic Sans just screams of first grader/primary school material, and for that very reasons I feel it is inappropriate to write such material in this font. Plus it looks crap too! ;)

Is my college not alone in doing this?

I've also wondered, is there a specific reason for writing pages and pages of material in this utterly hideous font?

As much as i agree that comic Sans should burn in font hell for all eternity, I have been told that it is used because it is easy to read.

it's still but-ugly tho.

It has however been found useful to lysdexic children (no, seriously) because it looks more like human handwriting - which is apparently easier for them to read.

I think comic sans has it's uses, but it's not really suitable as a corporate body text font.

On the other hand, it is so dull to see people who use nothing but Times New Roman.

I think Word Art (the use of the name Word Art in this post is copyright William Gates of Monopolosoft PLC World Inc) is worse. Today in my local shopping outlet, I saw a whole board full of job vancancies for respectable companies such as New Look and BHS an erm... McDonalds, all done in this hideous Word Art (the use of the name Word Art in this post is copyright William Gates of Monopolosoft PLC World Inc), where the name of the company (not even resembling the logo!) or the words 'Job Vacancies' were all in curved multicoloured Arial with the rest of the advert in standard Times New Roman as if the person creating it didn't know you could change the font! They looked terrible! And if I see that Clip Art (the use of the name Clip Art in this post is copyright William Gates of Monopolosoft PLC World Inc) picture of a confused man with his arms in the air again, I will personally tear the posters down. ;)

That's not the one! It's a guy in a suit with his hands out in desperation. ;)

It has to be the most unprofessional font and should be restricted to young children or tacky businesses. The other day I come across a web design company on the net with the whole site in Comic Sans (even the logo).
