The OFFICIAL Joe Public's Baby Thread. ***UPDATE***
Thinking of you Joe - you must be really excited at the moment? Hope the rest of the labour goes well (if it hasn't finished ) and that it's a problem-free delivery!

Thank you everyone.
Just to keep you up to date:
We got to the hosp at about 02:00 Mon morning and they monitored her till abt 05:00.
Everything is ok but full labour has not yet started.
The midwife said that 90% of women will have the baby within 48hrs after waters have broken.
If nothing has happened by Wed at 08:30 then they want us in so my wife can be induced.
So whatever happens we will have a new baby by Wed.
The waiting has now got worse, cos we know that it has started but its going VERY slowly.
Anyway will let you know when anything happens.

I don't know whether you've decided on a name yet, but if you haven't, please don't make it something stupid. The poor child will be stuck with it for life, or at least until s/he is old enough to change it.
Welsh name for boys
Quaker or French name for girls
You can't go wrong. Unless you take the Quaker thing to the extreme and instead of 'Faith' or 'Hope' go for 'Sustinance' or whatever.
Finally, buy it a teddy bear on the day it is born - not before or after, but on the day. Not something stupid and huge, like a life size Winnie the Pooh, but a good solid teddy bear. My father did this for me, and whenever I tell someone that my ted is exactly as old as me I get a lovely ''ahh''.
And yes, good luck.

Hello
Lauryn (middle name TBA) was born on 08.09.04 at 23.32.
Mother and Lauryn are doing well.
The induce procedure was started at 11.00 and it was a fairly difficult labour at one point she was on standby for a c-section.
The two boys are really looking forward to her coming home and with a bit of luck it will be today.
Thank you for all your kind words. (I will do the teddy bear thing).

If you found out on the 9th January, as it suggests in the first post in the thread, and it was born at ten to midnight on the 8th September you had a pretty much exact nine month pregnancy.
Not sure why that is fascinating, but still.
And congratulations.
