Does anyone else find themselves irritated by the fluctuating stock levels in Safeway? You could go in one week and they have a new product proudly on display, next time theres only 2 left. They then don't have them in for 2 weeks before they are back on special offer but everyones got in before you.

Interesting article in my local paper today... we have a reasonably large Safeway on the outskirts of Hinckley which is becoming a Morrisons later this year. Right now it's still Safeway but it's got all Morrisons products and shopping bags.
However, the paper reports that the Somerfield in the centre of town has reported a sales increase of 10% since Morrisons took over Safeway!
But I can't blame the dissatified Safeway customers for going elsewhere, Morrions really is quite crap and tacky - the one in the centre of Leicester's been done this summer and looks hideous.
And those unifoms really look like they should be on air hostesses...

There was a thing in our local rag a few years back about Safeways selling mouldy frozen pizzas at the store where I live.

I know we had a few problems with the Safeway in Hinckley when it opened in the early 90s.
Having worked in the very same Somerfield that I've mentioned above, I can tell you that if I'd put an out-of-date product on the shelf, I'd have been shown the door.
I'm afraid I can't blame the Safeway shoppers who are deserting Morrisons, they may have slashed the prices in Safeway but only because they're using shitty suppliers now.
As a business model, it's incredibly flawed. And the customers are voting with their feet. Somerfield don't get a 10% increase in sales just like that.
Also in Hinckley, we were planned to have a site redeveloped for a Morrisons supermarket in 2001. A lot of fannying about ensued until Morrisons took over Safeway - and, oh dear, Hinckley has, yes, a Safeway!
Morrisons say they're keeping the existing Safeway and converting it. (not yet done - it's selling all the shite Morrisons put out on the inside but it's still a Safeway shop)
Not only do Hinckleyans not want another supermarket, they don't want even one Morrisons, let alone two.
And Morrisons won't say now what they're doing with the bus station site.
I just think the entire company's bad news, especially with the awful corporate image they have. And people are very picky when it comes to the cheese factor too.
Safeway was classy. Morrisons on the other hand is little more than a refuse site.
