How many guys here find it difficult/embarassing to see their GP?
As a gay man I go to the GUM clinic fairly often just for piece of mind rather than worried about having caught something (though have done in the past).
Do straight men go as often?? Does STD's rate highly in a staight man's head. Gay man have finally got into the habit (ont he whole) of going fairly regualrly, and this is evident as staight men are now the fastest catchers of HIV, much more than gay men now - no longer the gay disease!!
ARe men that stubborn that they won't see a doctor unless they have a very obvious (and visual) ailment which you cannot simply ignore?
Or do women go too often to make us men look as if we prefer not to and therefore suffer for it!
None of my straight mates (all sexually active, they are keen to remind me!!) have ever been to a GUM clinic.

For about a week now everytime I have a wee it stings and I get this weird sensation with it. It's not an extremely painful stinging, but it's uncomfortable and a little worrying.
And yes, I have been having unprotected sex with a couple of random girls within the last 4 weeks
that might be thrush, a friend of mine had this. very easy to get rid of.
I may be thinking of the wrong person but didn't you mention once before you had a simalar type thing but it turned out to be a urine infection? Best goto your GP and let them take a wee sample etc see whats wrong. Best not to ignor it just in case.

actually, now reading about it, penile thrush is more of a burning on the skin rather than when urinating.Jamez wrote:Thrush? Only women get that don't they?
an old girlfriend of mine had something called cistitis where it burned when she had a wee - it could be that... that's a bladder/urine type infection. not sure if that's a std though. i never caught it.
Sounds like gohnorea (crap spelling i know)
I had that a year ago - very easily treated and you can see your GP rather than going to the GUM clinic
If you get a yellow/green discharge (nasty word - one of those words which sounds exactly what it is!) then you really should see someone as the pain when you pee will get worse and your cock looks like a yellow puss-like disaster area.
the fact you have had unprotected sex makes the issue more likely. If you 'went down' on them did you notice anything untoward smell or taste-wise? As a gay man, i have no idea what 'normal' is but I imagine it ain't a smell/funky experience

you can't be a nice smelly fanny, jamez -the smell of the fadge after yer bird's been working out at the gym is wonderful !Jamez wrote:ugghh - No, i'd never put my mouth anywhere near a girls fanny unless I really fancied her, she was shaved, smelled nice down below and had had a bath within the last 2 hours.
Here's a sommat, a couple of years ago, I had a cold and I also had a sore throat, I went to the doctors as I was feeling worse as each day, I told my doctor about my sore throat and he told me that I had thrush in my throat!
I asked him to repeat it just in case I wasn't hearing him right. Turns out that I had these little white marks inside my throat caused by too much paraceatemol (or however you spell it!) Doctor gave me some pastilles to suck on and those white marks went away.
As for the GUM, I think the thing that puts people off is what they do in terms of the swab test for men. It sounds really painful. Anyone had it done to them?
