About to go broadband... advice please!
I am due to be "activated" on Tuesday 24th August! Decided to go for the 1MB option with BT Yahoo! I do however have a couple of concerns... firstly, do I have to connect the modem and everything BEFORE activation? In other words, do the line testers or whatever have to detect I've set it up right? Secondly, it comes with Yahoo Browser, alledgely "an advanced version of Internet Explorer". Yeah right, like Windows is an "enhanced version of Mac OS" Presumably I don't have to use this?

The BT Yahoo! browser is a popup blocking shell for IE. It's not needed for functionality.
Some bits of the old BT site (less so with yahoo sections) don't like Mozilla though and force you to use IE. Otherwise you can use what you want.

Actually you don't have to install anything off the CD, expect the modem drivers if you use a USB modem.

The price! The 512KB or whatever offer was only £3 less a month than the 1MB! I'm dialling up on Freeserve and their 2GB a month limit on 512KB for £17.99 or whatever seemed crap.

BT Yahoo will become capped at 30Gb a month for 1Mb customers and 15Gb a month for 512Kb customers early next year. You could have went with 1Mb with Plusnet at the same price, without any cap!
Oh, and you're also tied into a 12 month contract with BT Yahoo as well.
