I'm not sure I buy that one. It's clumsy - "There's tons of..." sounds right but is grammatically inaccurate. When you take out the abbreviation (in the same way that if you take out this bracket), the sentence should read correctly.

We had a bit of flickering the other day during some rain, but I'm in an area that hasn't been affected by bad weather so far - whether the flickering was related or not, I don't know.

Maybe I'm nuts (YEEEESSSS I AMMM) but I love it when the lights flicker and it's all dark and thundery. There's something exciting about it...
