Ethnic background

I was prompted to create this by a post made by James in response to a one of my more embarrassing stories in the "i suck" thread.

That is, ethnic background. My father is Indian, born in India, living in India and Africa as a child before going to boarding school in England. Despite the obvious appearance being a bit of a give away, a perfect English accent could make you think otherwise on the telephone.

My mum is Polish. She has lived here all her life, but her parents came here after the war. Her first language, like my Dad, is her native tongue, but too speaks with a perfect English background.

I feel very privileged to have such a diverse ethnic background. It makes me feel special, cultured and valuable. More valuable anyway. A lot of my friends who's families have been based in and around my home town for what seems like eternity are a little jealous at my mixed history.

So what is your ethnic background? I don't want to get in to a discussion of which race is better, but am only interested as to see the spread of cultures throughout the forum. And out of curiosity as to whether there is another Polindian out there ;)

My parents were both born and brought up in England until about 13 when they moved to Australia. I was born in the outskirts of Sydney then moved up to Queensland where I remember most of my childhood... then at eight, moved here and were going back next year.

Thats about it. Most of the ethnic stuff comes from my mums side. I only know that because she's really into family history and she found that her family originated in Scandinavia.

The closest for me is that my dad is Scottish, otherwise our family is mostly Warringtonian.
