They seem to take great pleasure out of being surrounded by these vermin. How can they do that ? I saw one woman with one on her head once, she must have been a right mental.
We had this when we moved to our current house 12 years ago, the woman next door used to leave all sorts of crap out for the Pigeons and they would come constantly and it wasn't nice at all, she did this all the time and it constantly annoyed our parents. Though she moved into a nursing home in 2001 and assumed died not too long after, I know I shouldn't speak ill of the dead or anything but I am so glad that they've gone!!! Though this was short lived as it took months to completly gutter the house inside and out which caused loads of noise. There was also a horrible smell when the shed was demolished. Anyway....

I personally think that Ken Livingston is doing the right thing, as he is starting to evict the bastards from Trafalgar Square, though it has become a tradition they are incredibly annoying and probably isn't good for tourism in London.

In our local village the Parish being so concerned gave out loads of leaflets saying Don't Feed The Pigeons, typed using Microsoft Word, but they had a point, but the good thing is there are far fewer of them now, Thank God, it's not nice when you're trying to eat there.

I was told the stork brought them down from the clouds and popped it on the bench next to the old lady with a loaf of bread.

They come from under highway overpasses.

Yes, there appear to be large populations of pigeons living under freeway bridges and overpasses. The evidence I give you is this:
- large splotches of dried pigeon poo near the edges of the bridge structure
- dead pigeons that have fallen off the bridge structure
- pieces of small eggs about the size of your thumb
- more poo
- more dead pigeons

And then, most convincingly, when one looks up at the bridge, one sees pigeons flying around and roosting in the cracks and crevices thereupon.

dead pigeons really are not a pretty sight either! (especially during decomposition)

Why have I missed out on all this? Why do I only see normal pigeons. However I belive from reading the information on this thread that we can seriously damage the pigeon population if we do the following:

Remove all motorways / bridges
Remove all old people (or hid them from pigeons)
Remove all other birds and so called bees
Remove all mary poppins look-a-likes
Move Trafalgar square somewhere else.
